The most common uses for interactive media is in museums and galleries as a part of an instalation. Another use or term for interactive media is immersive media, which can also be called virtual reality. it is often known as technology of the future but it is being used and exists today, mostly for video gaming, simulating and art projects. It is used by creating an artificial enviroment to add to the simulation to give a sence of immersion. virtual immersive media technology has been made popular through films and TV shows like Minority report, Vertuosity, Lawnmowerman, The Cell and music videos like 50 Cents, “Ayo technology”.

for this interactive media course, we were asked to produce a flash based game.  To do this, I started at the beginning by asking, “what is interactive media?” Interactive media is a medium that allows people to be able to actively participate and get involved hence the term interactive. It can be played with, manipulated and altered in many ways. Interactive media can be in the form of a simulator, a puzzle, a game or a presentation. Interaction also comes from touch screen technology and light displays.

For my spectale artifact, I decided to do it on the spectalce of artchitecture. I wanted to look at why they looked like they did, where they were situated and what pourpose they served. It reminded me of when I went to New York, there are so many buildings (which made me wonder how many bussiness are there?) I also managed to go to a basketball game which, after attending a few lectures on the subject, made me think about how much we were only spectators atht e game and our presence and cheering, as much as it makes us feel like we are involved in the game, we’re not. Spectacle did play a big part of the game however, there was always something happening, even during the time outs and breaks, almost to the point where they were more interesting to watch than the actual game.

Whilst looking for images, I came across some pictures putting a new twist on the Star Wars theme, award-winning French photographer Cedric Dalsaux displays the many popular Star Wars characters in urban settings and areas. While the characters may look real, they are actually model toys superimposed on to the shots of Parisian architecture to create the illusion of realism.

spectacle idea

Posted in Spectacle, Uncategorized on December 11, 2008 by ademolly1

Finding an idea and trying to get spectale across for me was quite difficult, in a way it was very similar to power in alot of aspects they can both be discribed very similarly and can express the same things. I looked at a whole range of pictures and videos to get i ideas form and came across a a video from Japan about playin pranks on sususpecting members of the public. I thought about how I could make it possible , how can I get at least 70 people in the same place to help preform the prank then I finally found a use for my facebook page.  I set up to create a group of up to 100 people, just to be safe anf meet up to preform the spectale. but UNFORTUNATELY time wasnt on my side so I couldnt organise it, maybe if time permits  i might still do it if anything just for fun but I think it wi=olud be really spectacular if I could do it.
