POV

POV is shorthand for point of view. This term is used to show a film scene through the eyes of a particular character. . In games this is known as 1st person.  During POV you sometimes get to see the characters limbs and reflection in mirrors or glass, this further submerges you into the character. POV was made popular in TV by the comedy, “Peep Show”. throughout the show we get to see live thourgh the main, and sometimes other characters point of view. POV was first introduced to computer games in the 70′s by a game called “Maze Wars”. The genre took off in the 90′s with the introduction of the Doom series. Other succesful titles in the series include Halo, Unreal tournarment and most recently Mirrors Edge.

 Mirrors edge is a 1st person game developed in 2008 but isnt the conventional 1st person shooter we are used as the empthesis of the game is placed on the up and coming urban sprot Parkor. In this game, you get to see the characters arms flailing about as you fall from a hight , you also get to see the arms pumping as she runs and the camera shakes to simulate that also.
